Tahiti is the largest island in the Windward group of French Polynesia; this overseas collectivity of the French Republic is sometimes referred to as an overseas country. The island is located in the archipelago of the Society Islands in the central Southern Pacific Ocean. FAAA International Airport (French: Aéroport international de Tahiti Fa'a'ā) (IATA: PPT, ICAO: NTAA) is on the island of Tahiti, French Polynesia, 5 km southwest from the town center of Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia. This is the only international airport in the overseas collectivity of the French Republic. It opened in 1960.

In 2014, FAAA international Airport started the reconstruction works, and Qingdao LIDA Group was invited for the reconstruction works from a famous construction company. LIDA Group experienced teams provided fully support on this project, only the steel structure design and analysis work took half year times.
